MoonPay to acquire SEC-registered North Capital in $60 million all-stock deal

Cryptocurrency funds firm MoonPay is about to amass private-markets funding platform North Capital to help its tokenization efforts, based on an emailed announcement Wednesday.

Salt Lake Metropolis, Utah-based North Capital, whose platform boasts round $9 billion in main and secondary transaction quantity, will change into an entirely owned subsidiary of MoonPay after the transaction closes, topic to regulatory approval.

The all-stock deal is value over $60 million, sources acquainted with the matter instructed CoinDesk.

The acquisition will help MoonPay’s purpose of “constructing the regulatory basis to help mass adoption of tokenized real-world property,” based on CEO and founder Ivan Soto-Wright.

“We consider bringing these capabilities into the MoonPay ecosystem will help join totally different elements of the monetary system by fashionable, programmable infrastructure,” Soto-Wright added.

North Capital offers the tech infrastructure for tokenizing securities for personal securities issuers and fund managers, supporting capital elevating, asset administration, clearing, custody, and secondary buying and selling.

North Capital’s associates maintain related broker-dealer, buying and selling, switch and funding advisory registrations with the U.S. Securities and Change Fee (SEC).

MoonPay has expanded past its core enterprise of crypto funds in current months, establishing its Commerce platform to attach banks and fintechs to tokenized property, DeFi protocols and stablecoin liquidity.
