Sam Bankman-Fried applies for a pardon from Trump

FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried has formally filed for a pardon from President Trump, in keeping with the Justice Division’s Pardon Legal professional Workplace web site.

Bankman-Fried is serving a 25-year jail sentence after being convicted on fraud and cash laundering costs in 2024. The pardon software was first reported by Bloomberg Information.

Trump has pardoned a whole bunch of individuals throughout his second time period. Whereas a majority of these have been individuals who participated within the January 6 riot, many have been convicted of monetary fraud. An NBC Information evaluation from January discovered that greater than half of the person pardons granted have been to individuals who dedicated white-collar crimes like cash laundering, financial institution fraud, and wire fraud.

Trump has pardoned a variety of individuals who have donated massive sums to his political campaigns. Only a few of these he has pardoned filed the official software with the Justice Division, in keeping with Bloomberg.
