Ethereum Institutional signaled assist for Ethlabs’ movement to scale back block occasions and create a quicker Ethereum to handle growing competitors from different networks.

On Thursday, Ethlabs printed an article quoting 20 decentralized finance (DeFi) founders exhibiting broad assist for EIP-8198, also called “Fast Slots,” which seeks to initially cut back Ethereum block occasions to 10 seconds from 12 seconds.

EIP-8198 was authored in March and was proposed for inclusion within the Hegotá improve on the Ethereum core builders assembly on Aug. 6. Ethlabs stated it was merging the proposal’s specs with the principle codebase and investigating potential downstream dependencies to assist it “meaningfully enter Hegotá’s scope.”

Ethereum builders might start implementing Hegotá in late 2026 following Glamsterdam, arguably one of the vital consequential upgrades of the 12 months, designed to enhance scalability and harden the mainnet.
